Alban Muja (Mitrovica, 1980) is one of the leading young Kosovar artists.

Opening of the exhibition May 18, 2015 at 8:00 pm

The exhibition reamains open until June3, 2015

Works Alban Muja mainly deal with the socio-cultural phenomena of Kosovo’s contemporary transition and transformation, its phenomenology, deviance and pathology, as well as human, primarily personal and consequently common, group reactions. Topics such as the naming and renaming point to the socio-historical changes as a symbolic barometer and play an important role in Muja’s body of work. Topics that pertain politics and symptoms of severe economic consequences of the situation of transition, Muja approach with irony, but humorously. The individual is viewed as a consequence of social aspirations, and social aspirations and practices are in his work represented discreetely, almost voyeuristic, creating certain tension between scenes of his works and the audience in the place of critical comments. In the background of all Muja’s works stands a permanent relationship with the social or “people’s” creativity, aesthetics and his attitude towards the world of art, regardless of the medium in which the works are performed, and in this exhibition it is the photographs, video and paintings.
