The exhibition of Ana Bilankov, a Croatian artist living in Berlin, is the first collaboration between the artist and the Institute for Contemporary Art, which was created on the occasion of the book project entitled “Spaces, Stories, Geographies”, a book that does and doesn’t exist and to which this exhibition is dedicated.

“The newest and most recent work at the exhibition, the ambient installation “The Book (Absence) _ English / Croatian_228 pages_225 x 290 cm arouse from a question of how to translate the bizarre circumstances in which I have found myself in the last few months, finally wanting to materialize my art book into which were invested the enormous efforts of my associates and myself as an author, in a reduced and absurd visual expression. In parallel, I am trying to move this unpleasant current and local “reality” of the non-existence of a specific book into the vision of some abstract and global future, a kind of “turbofuturism” of post-digital publishing, in which the “book” in digital form will have the only legitimacy of existence – in the USB stick with engraved “The Book” inscription – and the book’s promotion becomes a silent party under the lights of a rotating disco ball.”

The exhibition also shows a selection of photos from the book.
