Artist’s books, at least when it comes to terminology, the relatively new medium of artistic expression.
This term means, in the simplest definition, the use of forms of the book (cover, pages that list, read and watch) for a free and innovative implementation of art.
The concept of “artist’s book” is defined in the late sixties at the time of major fractures in the artistic practice at the time of occurrence of conceptual art, concrete and visual poetry, process art and Fluxus.

Understandably, the emergence of the term which marked the artist’s books did not mean that the history of the medium has started then. Innovative approach to the book and its formation into a work of art is characteristic of all the key directions of the avant-garde of the first half of the last century, from Expressionism and Futurism, to give, Suprematism and Constructivism, to surrealism. (from the introductory text Darko Šimičić)

The exhibition is intended to provide a concise overview of the works of artists that have emerged in Croatia from the fifties to the present. Done without any ambition to be a comprehensive retrospective of the default theme, the exhibition draws attention to the particular individual contributions and pointing to a number of outstanding examples of media forms. Is important to emphasize the intention of the show to encourage a new generation of artists to work on future books.
The exhibited works are the works of over thirty Croatian artists, dating from the 50-ies of 20th century to the recent
