The photo monography In The Right Place could be understood as a sort of continuation of the photomonography Society(Petikat, 2022), with which it forms a diptych. It is also a selection of black and white analogue photographs from the eighties and nineties of the 20th century, and the format, scope and binding are identical in both books.
From Cvjetanović’s treasure trove of negatives from that period the book In The Right Place presents a selection of two hundred and forty photographs that at first glance cannot be thematically subtitled, as is the case with the cycles from the photomonograph Society, where there are solid content frameworks, portraits of social, political, urban, rural, institutional, or political dimensions of society.
These photographs suggest that they are experienced separately, they are mostly unrelated to each other, except for the fact that they are portraits. The reason for photography is always in the specific situation. Cvjetanović records interesting moments or scenes he encounters in the society where he moves. It is, however, composed of artists from various artistic disciplines. In addition to typically people from the visual arts scene, there are also artists from the fields of literature, music and film, from which it follows that this is Cvjetanović’s portrait of the art scene of the eighties and nineties of the last century.
It should be said here, that it is actually about it’s backstage, where, as an insider, he has a very good insight. Even though most of them are photos of public figures, we often find them in completely private settings. In addition to the faces known to everyone, there are also those known only to a narrow group, and in addition to the majority posing for him, there are also some stolen moments.
The book will be presented by the editor Boris Greiner, and the authors of the texts Bojan Krištofić, Goran Trbuljak, and Janka Vukmir.

Boris Cvjetanović (1953), marked the past four decades of Croatian photography with his professional activity. With the experience of working in the Croatian Restoration Institute (1976 – 1984), he became professionally active as a photographer in 1981, when he held his first solo exhibition Erotic Graffiti, SKUC; Zagreb, and when he started publishing photos in Studentski list, where he became the photo editor in 1987; he is one of the leading protagonists of the development of the youth, often called Polet’s generation of photographers.
From then until today, in his rich artistic oeuvre, he created a series of photographic series in which, sensitive to the social and humane, dedicated to people and their being in a social context, he interprets and documents society and its changes. With the discreet gaze of a witness, he forms interesting and witty artistic compositions resulting from his insightful observation.
