JOHANNA MARCADE-MOT: Workshop M.P. and public presentation GRAFZINI

On Saturday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m. within the project From Diaspora to Diversities, will be held a workshop titled M. P. at the Institute for Contemporary Art, Trg kralja Tomislava 20.
Workshop participants will be invited to make stamps with the coats of arms of imaginary countries.
Results will be collected at the end of the workshop in a format of a small passport sized publication titled M. P.
Workshop leader is Johanna Marcadé-Mot from Belgrade.
Deadline for participation is Thursday, December 2, 2016.

WORKSHOP M.P.
– Workshop lasts 3 hours
Participants will be invited to make stamps with the coats of arms of an imaginary country.
Results will be collected at the end of the workshop in a format of a small publication passports sized, named M.P.

GRAFZINI
Johanna Marcadé-Mot will talk about her experience in publishing fanzines and in screen-printing in France and in the Balkans, as well as the network of small publishers at European level and practices for the production, publishing and distribution of their publications. She will present a short history of GRAFZINs (type of fanzines often associated with manual printing techniques, which appeared in the 80s, in parallel in Europe, America and Japan).

Johanna Marcadé-Motte (Paris, 1983) has graduated in Visual Communication at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Saint-Etienne, France. After interning in several French publishing houses she took part in the work of several graphic collectives. She founded her own publishing company Turbo Comix, together with Bruno Tolić from Zagreb, which target the promotion, publishing and networking strip authors from the region. She has published a book about the independent comics from the region, COMICS / СТРИПОВИ Bande dessinée indépendante en Serbie et en Croatie, as well as the book “Company” by Igor Hofbauer from Zagreb, catalogues of all editions of the festival New Age and newspaper Pioneer.

Since ten years ago, she is living and working in Serbia, where one semester she attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. With Radovan Popović and Bruno Tolić, in 2010, she has launched the festival of nonaligned comics New Age, which takes place once a year, also in Belgrade. She works as a freelance graphic designer and curator. She also participated in numerous international and associate comic festivals and projects. Together with other members of the New Age has started the project Fijuk Network, a platform for independent comics in the Balkans. One of the founders of silkscreen imprinting studio Fijuk Laboratory and autonomous cultural center Matrijaršija in Zemun, where among other things, she leads a workshop with residents’ associations for support to persons with disabilities’ Our House. Since 2015 she has worked as assistant for screen printing at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

The exhibition is realized in the framework of the project “From Diaspora to Diversities” in cooperation of the Institute for Contemporary Art from Zagreb with Remont – Independent Art Association from Belgrade, European Cultural Centre Esperanza from Skopje, and KunstOst from Graz.
