The Radoslav Putar Award, established in 2002, for artists up to 40 years of age is currently, despite the situation caused by the COVID-19 virus, in preparation for its 19th edition.

This year for the third time, the Award has issued an open call for young curators under 40 who are given the opportunity to be part of the annual jury.

This expert committee, in the first round of the competition, selects four finalists according to the applications received by the artists, and in the second round of the competition, selects the winner of the annual Radoslav Putar Award based on the exhibition and an interview with the finalists.

Radoslav Putar Award winner has the opportunity to spend two months on a residency at Residency Unlimited in New York, set up a solo exhibition at the Institute for Contemporary Art in Zagreb, and since 2020, thanks to Gallery S from Koprivnica, has been given the opportunity to produce new work, a multioriginal. Radoslav Putar Award winner also becomes a member of the Award’s jury in its next annual cycle.

This year’s open call was answered by curators from two countries, for the first time from abroad, and among them was selected a new jury member Klara Petrović, curator from Zagreb.

Klara Petrović (1991), graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb with a degree in Art History and Croatian language. She is a curator with experience at the international art festivals Touch Me (Container) and Organ Vida (Organ Vida). As a curator, she has worked with the Gallery Šira and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. With Luja Šimunović, she launched the Kulturflux portal for which she was awarded the Franjo Marković Award (2017) and was the editor-in-chief of 2016-2018.

The Radoslav Putar Award jury will soon select the finalists of this year’s competition.

The finalists’ exhibition was planned for June 19th at the Galić Salon, for the first time in Split, in cooperation with the Croatian Association of Fine Artists, HULU – Split.

In view of the current situation caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the date of the finalists’ exhibition will be adjusted to the time when holding the exhibition and announcing the winners of the Award will be possible and safe for all participants.
