Slaven Tolj, one of the co-founders of the Institute for Contemporary Art, will present her exhibition Craquelure, Pavo and I in a new reiteration, after the exhibition was presented this year in Bologna (in Palazzo d’Accursio – Sala Urbana, curated by Daniele Capra) and in Rijeka, in the OK Gallery.

 

After overcoming severe health problems, the consequences of which left a mark on the fluidity of verbal communication, and the inability to remember the names of people and some concepts, difficulties in the production of speech, Slaven Tolj seemed to transpose his personal and complex poetics to the underworld. Whether it is about people who are in his mind, things that he resurrects with archaeological methods, life circumstances and situations, we will notice that death, wear and tear, dilapidation – everything that has been brought to an end, is in some permanent associative connection with his everyday life… .

 

…Slaven Tolj will thus, outlining the melancholy of escape, disappearance, and death, speak about difficult and serious universal topics, through a structured microcosm of his own bodily limitations and an uninterrupted intuitive insight into the true nature of things.
