90s: Scars

Today, on Thursday, May 14, 2020, the 90s: Scars project programs were scheduled to open, an international exhibition, symposium and accompanying programs, which revisit the artistic practices, social and political contexts of the 1990s in Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe, as well as partly Central Asia. The program was planned to run May 14 through 16, and last until mid-July.

Instead of the meeting in Rijeka and the opening celebration of the project we hoped for, today we offer you to visit our website, www.institute.hr where we bring 90 texts from the 1990s, by more than 70 authors*; and a collection of digitized VHS video-documentation from the same period. We will continuously update the page, as we will continue to digitize our video archive. We hope you find this collection interesting, as there are some very rare archival tapes and video documentation.

The project is organized in cooperation of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and the MMSU – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka, within the program Season of Power, European Capital of Culture, Rijeka 2020.

Although the entire project is postponed due to the global COVID-19 crisis, we will stay in touch with you online and until further notice.

Follow the news on our website, mailing list and social media, where we will inform you about all the novelties related to the 90s: Scars project, and we hope for some good news soon about the possibility to continue the work on the project.

Best regards,
Institute for Contemporary Art, Zagreb
MMSU – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka
and the whole project team.
